Direct or one stop: when the cheaper connection is worth it

The nonstop is not always the expensive one, and the connection is not free just because the fare is lower. Price both, then price your afternoon.

Direct or one stop: when the cheaper connection is worth it

A direct flight is one takeoff and one landing. A one-stop flight can be cheaper because it uses a hub and a fare the nonstop does not match. Neither is always the right ticket. Compare them from your city, add the hours you will actually spend, and book the one you can live with. Holipay does that comparison across airlines and agencies, without adding a markup, and you pay the provider.

A direct flight is one takeoff. A cheaper connection is a second airport and a clock.

What to put next to the price

  • Total time, not just the hours in the air. A 90-minute hop plus a four-hour sit is a different day from a three-hour nonstop.
  • Who owns the connection. On one ticket, the airline that sold the itinerary is supposed to rebook you if the first flight is late. On two tickets you joined yourself, the second airline does not wait.
  • The bag. A connection can mean a short connection and a bag that has to make it too. A fare that looks cheaper and then charges for the cabin bag is a different comparison, covered in the fare after the bag.
  • The airport in the middle. Some hubs are a walk. Some are a terminal change and a bus. Read the airports on the result, not only the city name.

On Holipay cheap flights you can leave stops open, or restrict the search to direct, one stop, or two. Run the direct search and the one-stop search on the same dates. The lowest line is the lowest fare among the providers in that search. It is not a guarantee that a seat exists on a site the search did not include.

Cashback does not pick the itinerary

Up to 10% back on an eligible booking is a ceiling. The figure on a result is an estimate until the partner confirms you flew. It will not repay a missed self-transfer. Withdrawals are in euros, from €100, to PayPal or a bank. There is no membership, and Holipay does not sell the ticket. How it works. The product in one paragraph is compare flights and get cashback.

Is a one-stop always cheaper?

No. On some routes the nonstop is the lowest fare. Search both.

Does the map show stops?

The destination map shows a cheap fare and an estimated flight time from distance. The number of stops is on the full search, not on the pin.
